Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind while mountain biking:

Maintain control—Whether it means slowing down or having to walk the bike along certain parts of the trail, it is important to maintain control of the bike’s speed and trajectory at all times. This is helpful in situations where one encounters an obstacle or unexpected twists and turns in the trail.

Proceed with caution—Especially on unfamiliar trails, one should always proceed with caution and ride slowly, particularly when rounding corners.

Wear the appropriate gear—In addition to wearing a helmet, mountain bikers should always wear appropriate gear that is both comfortable and protective. This includes glasses to protect the eyes, gloves to protect the hands, and padded shorts to ensure a smoother ride.

Rotary International Announces Dates for Its 2014 Convention

Recognized by Barron’s as one of the top-100 financial advisors in the country, Keefe Gorman currently works with Merrill Lynch as a managing director of investments. Rotary International recently announced the dates for its 2014 International Convention, which is scheduled to take place June 1-4, 2014, in Sydney, Australia. In its 105th year, the Rotary International Convention also serves as the organization’s annual meeting, at which traditional association business is conducted. The convention is also designed to inspire Rotarians from around the world and inform them about incoming officers, such as president and governors-elect, so they can convey this information to members at the district and club levels.

Established in 1905, Rotary International is a worldwide organization that develops and coordinates global campaigns and initiatives for the greater social good. Among its many accomplishments, one of the most notable successes of Rotary International is the eradication of polio in all but three countries in the world.
